Well. It appears that Apple has invented the Mother Box.
I had, up until now, been of the opinion that a cellphone should just be a damn cellphone--ain't no need for it to be a camera, datebook, and tiny email thingy. As of today, I have reconsidered that opinion. The thing that really got me? It runs Google Maps. I'm not even really a technology geek; I still use fountain pens, for heaven's sake. I've never felt the need to have the Shiny New Thing. But today, I'm feeling that need. I'm convincing myself not to try to pre-order one by telling myself that Google Maps is one thing, but they'll really have something when they make it run Google Earth.

Date: 2007-01-10 06:42 am (UTC)I'm sure this will be my next phone, but ironically, where it fails for me is as an iPod replacement.
Sure, 8G is nice, but if it were hard drive based I would be able to get rid of my iPod and only carry one device.
