On the Importance of Realistic Goal-Setting

Old Goal: Learn to become a reasonably competent guitar player with a repertoire of entertaining songs.

New, Realistic Goal: Play a C chord without wanting to throw up from the pain of fretting the B string.

switch to ball-ended nylon strings for a while. That lets you learn the chords pain-free and then you can deal with callouses later.
