The guy with the gun looks a bit like Professor Farnsworth. But then, I've been watching a bit too much Futurama lately.

The Herbert West stories were always among my favorite Lovecraft works. Lovecraft himself hated them with a passion, but I think the sheer, manic, over-the-top Grand Guignol is a nice break from his usual themes.
