What a drag it is getting old

Still hobbling around on the cane. Entirely apart from the fact that I'm using my leg muscles in a totally different way and that makes me sore, it's been a real learning experience. I've never felt so old in my life. I mean, I know that right now I'm older than I've ever been before, but this is different. It's making me think about declining and growing old.

I don't like it, but I've chosen to believe there's a lesson in it.

That really sucks. I hate it when aging seems less like entering a new era than adding to the pile of missed opportunities. That's what it feels like to me, anyway. Each year just means more attractive women it's inappropriate for me to consider.
