(no subject)

I haven't updated in a while. I've been around; I just haven't particularly had anything to say.

Last week I had a wee bout with the cold/flu/Captain Trips that's been going around. (A reference to The Stand when discussing the flu. Yeah. 1993 called; it wants its pop-culture reference back.) So. Yes. Feeling better now, but apparently while my immune system was otherwise occupied, I succumbed to a recurring bacterial infection that sometimes...recurs. I'm on antibiotics until next Saturday, meaning no booze, meaning that'll be THREE weekends shot right to hell. But at least I'll be off the antibiotics in time for RandyCon.

Speaking of lost weekends, was that some damn snow we got, or what? I have triumphed by finding an off-street parking spot. That was my big concern when I moved into this place, being on a night plow route. But we have a little private drive in the middle of the complex, so my car is safe and nearby. And not moving ONE INCH until Monday.

The Stand was a great novel! One of Stephen King's best, i think!

M-O-O-N, that spells "doorstop"

Actually, I've never read it. Hence the 1993 date; that's when the miniseries aired. It pleased me to see that Jamey Sheridan from Shannon's Deal was still getting gigs.

I actually have a huge Stephen King-shaped gap in my cultural background. I've only ever read the first three books of the Dark Tower series. I don't NOT want to read King; I've only just recently gotten back into fiction, and in the horror area, I'm starting with Poe and Lovecraft and sort of working my way forward.

(And I do keep meaning to formally introduce myself in [livejournal.com profile] walkenology. I just spend very little time on LJ lately.)

King is good to read... you should definetley read *The Stand* i guarantee the book is better than the miniseries (though i will agree Jamey Sheridan made a most wonderful/terrible Randall Flagg)
Hope you do introduce yourself to [livejournal.com profile] walkenology
