(no subject)

I was awoken out of my bed today at the crack of ten by the sound of incisors on window screen. This isn't, of course, the first time the squirrels have chewed through the screens, but this is the first time I've caught one in the act. This one was trying to get into the living room. (First the kitchen, then the bedroom, now the living room. I'm a little alarmed at how methodically they're approaching this whole thing.) I sort of crept toward it while it was hard at work. I don't know what I was going to do once I got over there--I had half a mind to go for my whip--but it poked its head through the screen, saw me, and went back down the wall.

What freaks me out is just how hard the thing was working on that screen. If they'd sort of casually chew their way in and look around, that would be one thing. But these are squirrels on a mission. I have no idea how to deal with a squirrel with that kind of work ethic.
