I'm in the middle of taking another sewing class. As I am a fat, fat man, I thought it might be useful to learn pattern alteration. it's actually turning out to be quite fascinating, and easier than I thought it would be-all I've had to do to alter things to my gargantuan measurements is add a few inches here and there, and use a fashion curve to re-true the lines. If I'd known it was this easy, I would have started doing this crazy shit years ago.

I'm making this. One glorious day, I will be an Edwardian dandy.

You make it sounds like you are sewing a fancy coat for King Kong. Not that King Kong doesn't need a fancy coat, but.

I'm glad you are liking the class! You are a better student than I.

I started doing it years ago myself, and I like being able to make things that fit me. Everyone's body has quirks, so it makes it easier to get a good fit when you are working from scratch. One thing I like to do is make my patterns out of tag board, that way if I'm going to be doing variations on a basic garment, instead of starting from scratch each time, I can start from a basic pattern that I know fits well.
