Optical Shenanigans
Aug. 8th, 2004 01:58 amMy favorite part of the show was an act by a guy who did 3-D silhouettes. He gave 3-D glasses to the audience, set up a white screen upstage, and the performers were backlit by red and blue lights. When they handed out the 3-D glasses, I expected it to be some gag on the audience, but I figured what the hell, I'll be a sport for a change and wear the damn things. They do, in fact, give performers' silhouettes THE EFFECT OF ACTUAL 3-D. I'm not much given to childlike wonderment, but this was the best thing I've seen in a very long time. There's nothing in the world I like more than seeing something totally new. I'm still smiling about it.
