So apparently 104.1 has changed their format. They're now Jack FM. So much for New Wave Nation. Dammit.

I was more than a little surprised by the format change. Not that I thought an all-Prince, Michael Jackson, and Def Leppard station would possibly be hurting for listeners or anything. I was driving to work the other day when they played this long montage of such as "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Hit The Road Jack" with the word Jack cut out. I thought wow, the FCC's really lost it this time. Then they announced the format change.

Apparently they're trying to do the eclectic format with a dash of good old-fashioned jaded hipsterism. I caught them playing Creed the other day. Now I have to take them off my presets.

We have a Jack here in Denver - it was only interesting for the few weeks it went commercial free

The Jack in Dallas was good for a free concert last September; my mother and I got to see the Eyeliners, Joan Jett and... the Spin Doctors. Maybe their promotions department is just as confused as the "format" is?
