After only meaning to do it for seven years, I finally went to Boiled in Lead's traditional St. Patrick's Day show at First Avenue. The crowd was interesting--it was a mix of old hippies and the contingent of bearded guys in leather fedoras I'd expected to see. I bet I could have won the hearts of half the crowd if I'd jumped up on a speaker and shouted, "NORDSKOGEN ROCKS!"

It was a good show. The crowd was a little less raucous than I had expected, which I appreciated. I dislike St. Patrick's Day for the same reason I dislike New Year's Eve: It's when the amateurs come out.

That is correct. And everyone involved was courteous enough to go through the whole thing right about the time City Pages usually runs their annual "FIRST AVENUE IS DOOMED! DOOMED, I TELLS YA! DOOOOOMED!" story.
