Yeah, lucky thing I keep getting those flu shots every year.

So I said, "Hey, I think I managed to avoid that bug that's been going around," and my immune system said, "Oh, I think different."

This one caught me totally off-guard. Usually, I get all sentimental and blubbery about two days before I get sick. This time, my early-warning system failed. Oh, it sure as hell worked on Thursday when I'd already called in to work, spending the afternoon on the couch all "That Dr. Phil is such a nice man BLOO BLOO BLOO BLA BLOOOOOO," but two days earlier, when I'd have had time to prepare? Nothing. (Fortunately, I had my Miami Vice DVDs on hand to defuse any emotional crises.) (I love that show. I don't know why my mom never let me watch it.)

So I'm still shaking off a bad cough, and my lymph nodes are the size of cats. On the upside, my voice is going through its usual cold/flu progression: Barry White, Tom Carvell, Tom Waits, The Kurgan. Right now I'm at The Kurgan. So for those of you who know me, don't be surprised if my primary mode of communication is text. (As opposed to what my primary mode of communication is when I'm healthy.)
