Jul. 13th, 2006 11:12 pmSo last night, I went to my first SCA meeting in about 10 years. I'd been to a couple of small events in the past couple of years, but I hadn't been involved to any significant degree since back in Iowa, when I started grad school. I was basically the chief bureaucrat in our local group. When I left, my term of office had just expired, and I was really burned out. Ain't no drama like SCA drama. My ability to withstand such things has increased since then, so I don't see myself geting into the same situations I was in last time I was active.
I hadn't really meant for my break to last for ten full years, but I can be assured now that I am Darn Good And Ready to go back. I'm interested to see A) how different the experience is up here from being in the Iowa groups, and 2) how the organization as a whole has changed in 10 years.
I had a fine time last night. I forget how nice it is to be in the company of friendly geeks.
